No Injected Dye.
The retina is the light-sensitive lining at the back of your eye. OCT uses light to show its layers, helping us look for swelling and other changes. OCT-A shows blood flow in its tiny vessels without injecting dye.
For patients with diabetes or retinal disease, these complementary views help your doctor look for swelling and areas where blood flow has changed.
OCT-A is noninvasive (without cutting or piercing the eye) and does not require a dye injection into a vein. Your doctor decides when it adds useful information; it does not replace every dilated exam or test that uses dye to show blood flow at the back of the eye.

ZEISS IOLMASTER 500Tracking Your Child’s Nearsightedness
Myopia control is care designed to slow worsening nearsightedness. Measuring eye growth helps Dr. Somogy and Dr. Gurgel follow your child’s progress and guide their treatment.
Nearsightedness often gets worse as a child’s eye grows longer. That extra length changes where light focuses, making faraway things look blurry. Measuring eye length helps us track growth, not just changes in the glasses prescription.
At Anamosa, our ZEISS IOLMaster 500 measures the eye from front to back. Your doctor may call this axial length. It shows readings to 0.01 mm, one hundredth of a millimeter, so we can compare small changes over time.
We have this technology as part of the cataract consultation care we host. It also helps us follow children in our myopia-control program, which is why all myopia-control visits take place at Anamosa.
