Dr. Roman Somogy is the owner of Sigma Eyehealth Centers. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology summa cum laude from the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire and his Doctor of Optometry degree cum laude from Midwestern University’s Chicago College of Optometry.
He graduated with clinical honors and received awards recognizing his work in low vision, contact lens fitting, and patient management. His clinical rotations included the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago and a surgical co-management center, with experience in glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and after-surgery care.
At Sigma, Dr. Somogy provides care for eye diseases, low vision care, specialty contact lenses, myopia control, and minor surgical procedures. He explains the appropriate treatment options and helps each patient choose an approach that fits their comfort and goals. He also coordinates cataract follow-up with the surgical team.
Originally from rural Wisconsin, where he grew up on a pine tree farm, Dr. Somogy is committed to making modern eye care accessible in local communities. Outside the office, he enjoys hands-on projects and time with his wife, Stefanie, and their son, Maverick.
Dr. Somogy sees children ages 4 and older. For patients living with advanced eye disease, his low vision care explores practical ways to read, enjoy hobbies, and use everyday technology again. He works with the sight that remains, with recommendations based on each patient’s abilities and goals.
